CANDLEKEEP COVE RACEWAY – ICE TRACK 1 (ICE)
Fisher:
And it’s the first Team Event of the Cold Hearted Cup! We’re already seeing some interesting changes…
Hazel:
Do you mean that we added more events than the annual tourny or that we have new racers today?
Fisher:
Both! Don’t worry, the racers you are familiar with aren’t retired, they are just Team Captains now, and today we’re seeing some of the rest of the team.
Hazel:
This is also our first Team Event at Candlekeep Cove, now that we’re digging into this.
Fisher:
And a new race type too: ice racing! This is a speed-based head-to-head race.
Hazel:
First across the finish line after two laps takes the most points, which will be counted towards the team’s total and help determine who goes first in the Cold Pursuit series later this year.
Fisher:
Those drivers have GOT to be freezing! Let’s get this started so they are that much closer to hot chocolate time!
Round 1

Hazel:
The pack sticking together, with Predator losing only the slightest advantage to Raze. Bad Egg and Shotgun covering the rear, as their respective teams tend to do.
Round 2

Fisher:
And Lane “Raze” Dixon takes that first jump at max safe speed, landing with a flourish — or a fishtail — and starts drifting into Corner 2!

Hazel:
Shotgun Pushes Through to get past Bag Egg, since he couldn’t drift around him.
Fisher:
This is a costly move as more than paint gets scrapped off in the exchange. They are both down a Coast die now.
Hazel:
I don’t see a Pit Area for this track…
Fisher:
There isn’t one, so they’ll have to suck this up for the rest of the race!
Hazel:
We haven’t had a DNF in this league, but we might today!

Round 3

Fisher:
I don’t know what it is about Michiganders and the first snow, but we are seeing some RISKS today.
Hazel:
Big Guns seems to think that not drifting will somehow give them an advantage here, but we’ll have to see.
Round 4

Fisher:
It’s hard to tell if this was Predator’s plan or just the slick drift corner, but they manage to force Raze through the corner. Pumped Up Kits is going to be done 1 Coast, 1 Brake, and 1 Gear the rest of this race.
Hazel:
Raze is going to be down a Gear as well. Maybe this will let someone else get some leader points this season?
Fisher:
Perhaps, but Raze still gets to move and got carried quite a bit…

Round 5

Hazel:
Predator showing they aren’t out just yet, but certainly not for lack of trying.
Fisher:
At least Big Gun’s ploy worked after all, going slow through the drift corner kept everyone back so they could pull ahead.
Hazel:
You think it was their ploy and not the other drivers hearing the crunch of Predator’s Quetzel as it got turned into a compact car?
Fisher:
Probably a combination, really…

Round 6

Round 7

Fisher:
I think Predator’s damage is starting to take effect, maneuvering around that corner. This is giving Big Guns and Minotaur an opportunity to catch up though.
Hazel:
And it gives Shotgun and Bad Egg privacy to kiss, by the looks of it!
Fisher:
Well, let’s give them a chance to canoodle. More ice racing action after this commercial break!

Round 8
Hazel:
And we’re back! Burn Rabbit is my favorite carrot juice!
Fisher:
It sounds like it would be spicy. But it can’t have more heat than our event today!
Hazel:
Bad Egg would agree with you. He came at Corner 3 too hot and has spun out. And he was in 5th gear too…

Fisher:
It looks like Tyler Skinner’s Quetzal is pointing the wrong way, but has suffered no damage.
Hazel:
Just the hit his finish time will take…

Round 9

Hazel:
Raze is first over the lap marker! We’re sliding into the back half of this race!
Round 10

Round 11

Fisher:
Bad Egg really isn’t as far behind as I would have thought, he really is keeping the pressure on.
Hazel:
With the lead Raze has, I don’t know if there’s much of a point. She sailed over that jump like it was nothing.
Round 12

Round 13

Round 14

Fisher:
I think I spoke too soon about Bad Egg making up for that crash.
Hazel:
Big Guns just pulled ahead of Predator, so it’s not ALL over yet!
Round 15

Hazel:
See, Bad Egg is still in it, you just have to have faith!
Round 16

Fisher:
Him and Shotgun are dueling for that jump, that sounds safe.
Hazel:
No more dangerous than Big Guns all but stopping in Corner 5 to keep the wreck less Predator from taking second.
Fisher:
Well, with one last corner to go, this bloodbath won’t go on for too much longer.
Round 17

Hazel:
Oof! Big Guns makes her play, forcing Raze outta her way.
Fisher:
Hanna’s Morab has been immaculate up until this point — and continues to be so — but Lane’s Senner has already been punished, and continues to crumple!

Round 18

Hazel:
And we have another photo finish, this one in favor of Hanna “Big Guns” Campbell in her Morab for Race Ventura!
Fisher:
That’s Race Ventura’s first seasonal event win! Lane “Raze” Dixon takes 2nd, but just barely.

Round 19

Hazel:
Minotaur glides though that corner in the way only he can, having a pristine ride still, but immediately puts that in danger by cutting off Predator and punctuating it with a brake check to add insult to injury.
Fisher:
Minotaur is in too high a gear for Predator to anything but be blocked and get mad about it. So cold-hearted!
Hazel:
That’s the idea!!
Round 20

Round 21

Round 22

Round 23

Fisher:
Careful maneuvering has put Shotgun ahead of Bad Egg in the final corner.
Hazel:
Even if he had shoved him, Bad Egg couldn’t push himself through that corner and out ahead.
Round 24

Hazel:
Aww, they’re kissing again!
Fisher:
Er… Well, that’s one way of looking at that.
Round 25

Hazel:
In the final hour, Shotgun pulls a 5th place out of the snow! That’s still worth 10 Season Points!
Fisher:
True. This season is going to have more events than ever before, so every tally will count.
Round 25

Fisher:
Officially the longest race we’ve had, but now everyone has come in from the cold! Let’s see the breakdown of the final results:
