Microcity GP Qualifier at Hayford Heights

Hazel:

As promised, we have something new and special for you today!

Fisher:

Mostly new. Semi-new.

Hazel:

It’s more new than it is old!

Fisher:

True. As many of you know, the Candlekeep Cove Raceway has been decommissioned! This means, we have an unveiling for you of sorts.

Hazel:

And we’re doing this the only way we know how: with a race!

EVENT RULES

• GUMBALL MACHINE: Racers were determined by random pulls, and are using their listed Racer Roster specs.
• LIVE ACTION: Event happens in real-time, no turn-based activity.
• SEASONED FRIES: This event is worth Season Points, based on placement at the end of the race.

Fisher:

As you recall, we experimented with a live, real time event earlier this year when we introduced out second track.

Hazel:

You can still read about the original Initial D-rag Race! but we also wanted you to get a better look at Isla Sorna: Site B Track now that it’s at the new location.

Fisher:

We’re still working out the kinks on getting good recordings of the events, but here’s a test heat!

STARTING POSITIONS

Hazel:

To mark the momentous occasion of moving to a new track, we wanted to do something bigger than ever before: an honest-to-goodness qualifier event!

Fisher:

Ultimately this is going to be a Team Event, but we didn’t want Free Agents to miss out on the festivities. Instead, racers were deputized based on their paint color to match our existing teams.

Hazel:

And to make sure it’s as fair as possible given the short distance, we’re running SEVEN HEATS and awarding temporary SP to determine the starting order for the main event. The heats are as follows.

ISLA SORNA: SITE B TRACK – SEVEN REAL-TIME HEATS

First Heat

Fisher:

You may recognize these familiar racers, as they are full-time members of their respective teams.

Hazel:

We recently saw them in If Looks Could Chill as well!

Fisher:

Minotaur starting things off with points for Not Fast But Furious, a vast improvement from their last 3rd place finish. Predator also moving up from 4th to 2nd, but Big Guns slipping from 1st to 3rd.

Hazel:

Thankfully they brought friends!

Second Heat

Fisher:

Our Second Heat is comprised of some bigger beasts! You may remember Stephen Strong from Trucks vs Bikes Dirt Rally! and Hawkeyes from King of the Mountain – 5 x 5!

Hazel:

Plankton takes 1st, putting Pumped Up Kits on the board, with andy valhalla taking 2nd for Baby Got Track and Brass taking 3rd for Van Hailin’ leaving all our returning racers in the back.

Third Heat

Fisher:

Third Heat is classic racers! Isn’t that Stunner from the last real-time event?

Hazel:

It is! Stunner takes 1st this time, using their familiarity of the track to a massive advantage and scoring another win for Pumped Up Kits. Lambchop takes 2nd for Kickin Assphalt and Handsome brings home more points for Not Fast But Furious.

Fisher:

Ooooh, we’re starting to see some intensity!

Fourth Heat

Hazel:

Our Fourth Heat is throwing down with some track legends as well as road warriors!

Fisher:

The Snake in his Canebreak takes 1st place, a step up from when they were last seen in Showdown at Suzuka – 1st Heat! Right Hook takes 2nd for baby Got Track and Phillippe D’Aboville’s Bugatti Type 35 scores 3rd place for Not Fast Bur Furious!

Fifth Heat

Hazel:

Fifth Heat is all fresh faces, but serious horsepower!

Fisher:

The Vet takes 1st for Pumped Up Kits, thus cemetning his callsign. Marley Law takes 2nd for Van Hailin’ and Juna Kleinmann takes 3rd for Baby Got Track.

Hazel:

This feels like the best Baby Got Track has done in an event! Maybe Yellow Ones Go Faster!

Sixth Heat

Fisher:

Sixth Heat is all pavement pounders, including our first non-Terran racer Bumblebee! Welcome to Earth!

Hazel:

Ivan Frederick Muggeridge takes another 1st for Pumped Up Kits, while Five Fingers takes 2nd for Kickin Assphalt, and Left Hook takes 3rd for Race Ventura.

Fisher:

We had both Right Hook and Left Hook. I wonder if they are gonna have a showdown at some point?

Seventh Heat

Hazel:

For our final round — Seventh Heat — it’s all special guests from Pixar’s Cars franchise!

Fisher:

The heaviest hitters on the track today, they really brought the heat! Strip Weathers AKA The King takes yet another 1st place, this time for Kickin Assphalt. Ryan “Inside” Laney brings a 2nd place home for Van Hailin’ and Lighting McQueen rounds out 3rd for Not Fast But Furious.

Hazel:

Okay, we’re going to total up all the points and see what the second half of this event is going to look like!

Hazel:
